Whiplash is the most common of all injuries sustained as a direct result of a car accident, however can be the most difficult to identify and treat.

This is because, whiplash is capable of presenting itself in so many different ways, and the symptoms of whiplash may take days, months or even years to present themselves. In addition, symptoms of whiplash may take days, months or years to recede, and it may be a while before you can be said to have ‘recovered’ from whiplash.

If you think you may be suffering from whiplash, here are the most common symptoms which you will need to look out for in the days and weeks following you accident.

  • Headaches
  • Neck pain or stiffness
  • Pain in the lower back, shoulders or shoulder blades
  • Dizziness
  • Ringing in the ears or blurred vision

  • Decreased ability to concentrate or remember.

How to Cope with Whiplash

Whiplash can be caused by the smallest of bumps, but because your neck is so fragile that small bump can do untold damage. Coping with whiplash often means having to go through a lengthy recovery process and you may find that you are unable to work. As with any neck injury, it’s often recommended with whiplash that you do not go back to work until you feel completely ready. However sometimes this presents problems in itself, such as how to cope financially when you are unable to work due to an injury.
